The Oxford County 48

Here's what's going on over the next 48 hours in the region

Today: Monday: It's Municipal Election Day across Oxford County! Voters will be choosing the people who represent their communities on municipal councils and school boards for the next four years. Each of Oxford County's eight municipalities runs its own election, so voting methods, hours and locations may vary depending on where you live. For information on how and where to cast your ballot in your community, click here.

Today: It's a Cozy PJ PA Day Movie at the Tillsonburg Library from 1 until 3 p.m. Kids can wear their favourite pyjamas, bring a stuffed animal and enjoy a screening of The Wild Robot, an animated adventure about a robot who finds herself caring for an orphaned gosling. Snacks will be provided, courtesy of Sobeys Tillsonburg. It's a drop-in event, but space is limited, so arrive early. Parents or guardians must stay for the movie.

Today: It's Bingo Night at the Tillsonburg Community Centre's Lions Auditorium! Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with games starting at 7 p.m. There's a guaranteed $1,000 jackpot every week. Admission is $23 for all games, and you must be 18 or older to play.

Tomorrow: Community Employment Services is at Thamesford Library from 1:30pm to 4pm, so if you need a job, or want to work, regardless of whether you're unemployed, just getting into the workforce, or already have a job and looking to transition into another role or industry, they are there to help. You can speak with a career consultant and get connected with local employers, update your resume and receive coaching on industry standards, learn more about training and/or apprenticeship opportunities, and practice interview skills, gain confidence, and ease anxiety. Please book an appointment by contacting Employment and Career Consultant, Sam Ritchie. You can call 226-232-4186, or email: sritchie@cesoxford.ca.

Tomorrow: The Tavistock Library is hosting Driving Safely in Your Senior Years at 1 p.m. Kristy from the Ministry of Transportation will offer tips for older drivers, including changes that can affect driving, rules of the road and the licence renewal process for drivers over 80. The free session includes time for questions. Registration is preferred (and you can register here), but drop-ins are welcome. Call 519-655-3013 for more details.

Tomorrow: The Tillsonburg Library is bringing the big-screen experience back with its Monthly Film for Adults at 1 p.m. This month's feature is the comedy Good Fortune, starring Keanu Reeves, Sandra Oh and Seth Rogen. Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and there's no need to register. Just drop in and enjoy the show!
