What's good in Tillsonburg? Oxford County Library to host Local History Speaker Series

Local History Speaker Series returns to Oxford County Library

The pioneering spirit that helped make Oxford County what it is today will be the subject of the next instalment of the Oxford County Library's Local History Speaker Series, a year long celebration of the Library's 60th anniversary.

Local historian and retired museum curator  Scott Gillies tells us he has some fascinating stories about some of the region's earliest settlers and their descendants.

Gillies, a long-time resident of Ingersoll and Oxford County, says the region has a storied
agriculture history.

Gillies notes the County's famous cheese industry was also tied to meat production.

Additionally, farm machinery manufacturing was a big export business in Oxford County going back to before the First World War.

'Oxford Pioneers' is a drop-in event at the Library's Ingersoll branch, Saturday October 4th from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

There's no registration required to attend in-person however you must register to participate in the live ZOOM format. There's registration online at https://www.ocl.net/ OR by phone via the Tillsonburg branch (519-842-5571) or the Ingersoll branch (519-485-2505).
