The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association (CHAA) is inviting the community to its annual Wings and Wheels Family Fun Day this Saturday at the Tillsonburg Regional Airport.

The all-volunteer group is dedicated to restoring and flying historic Harvard aircraft, known as the “yellow birds” of the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and the RCAF. The association operates nine aircraft, with five airworthy Harvards and a Yale, and frequently performs flyovers at Remembrance Day ceremonies and local events.

Terry Scott the Public Relations Chair says CHAA really looks forward to this event.

Saturday’s event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and promises something for the whole family. Visitors can enjoy aircraft displays, tours, food trucks, a KidZone, garage and book sales, and live flight demonstrations. A highlight will be the massive classic car show, featuring vehicles from the Tillsonburg Cruisers, the Bygone Iron Car Club, and independent owners. Scott revealed that for one classic car owner there will be a very special prize.

Admission is by cash donation, with proceeds supporting CHAA’s mission to preserve aviation history. Donations help maintain the fleet and ensure the iconic yellow aircraft remain in the skies. Flight experiences can be booked in advance at harvards.com or arranged on site, weather permitting.

Scott reminded us that the The Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association also welcomes new members.

Organizers remind attendees to access the airport via Ostrander Road and Cranberry Line, as there is no access from Highway 19. In the event of poor weather, updates will be posted Friday afternoon on CHAA’s website and social media. Families are encouraged to attend and keep Canada’s proud aviation story alive.
