Welland Fire issues two fines for violations

Blocked exits and no fire alarms the cause for fines

Welland Fire and Emergency Services has issued fines for two property owners in the last few weeks.

One location on Division Street included repeated violations involving a chained-shut main entrance, leading to a $13,500 fine after the property owner ignored warnings.

Another case on Scholfield Avenue revealed a complete lack of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, resulting in an $11,250 fine.

WFES is stressing that blocked exits and missing alarms can have deadly consequences during emergencies.
