Shooting investigation leads to arrests in London

Five people have been charged in connection with a shooting investigation that began over the weekend in London, Ont.

Police say members of the London Police Service’s Major Crime Section executed a search warrant on a vehicle Monday, seizing a loaded Glock 26 Gen 5 handgun, nearly 100 grams of suspected cocaine, 40 suspected oxycodone pills and two digital scales.

Investigators say the seizure led to multiple charges against five London residents.

Police say 22-year-old Liban Yousuf faces numerous firearms and drug trafficking charges and remains in custody, with an arrest warrant also issued for additional offences. He is scheduled to reappear in court Sept. 5.

Also charged are 23-year-old Mading Atat, 21-year-old Abraham Johnson, 21-year-old Noah Gerges and 25-year-old Rebekah Dean. Each faces multiple firearms-related charges, with Gerges additionally accused of dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

All five remain in custody and are scheduled for court appearances between Sept. 4 and Sept. 9.

Police say they are still searching for another suspect they believe was involved in the shooting.
