Oxford County Council looks closer at EMS response times

Oxford County Warden Marcus Ryan weighs-in on new report on emergency response times

Maintaining adequate ambulance service in Oxford County remains a struggle - that's the thrust of a new report to Council on EMS response times and the direction they appear to be going in.

Warden Marcus Ryan tells us while population growth and an aging demographic explain some of the issues involved, there are other factors.

Ryan says to be effective, Council should keep looking for different ways to deliver paramedic service, and continue to capitalize on what is working.

Based on the data in the report and what County Staff ultimately recommend to address EMS service levels, Ryan expects there will be a request for more resources in the 2026 budget proposal.

Ryans says he's tried to remind council that the bottom line from a resident's perspective is how fast an ambulance arrives after the call for help is made.
