The Official Plan will go under the microscope at Oxford County Council
Oxford County councillors are set to receive an update on proposed changes to the implementation policies contained in the municipality’s Official Plan at their next meeting.
Implementation policies guide how the County and local municipalities process applications for development, including requirements for zoning by-law amendments, subdivisions, public consultation and other planning tools used to carry out the plan’s objectives.
A staff report notes that recent changes to Ontario’s Planning Act have prompted the review. Officials say updating the Official Plan will help improve planning requirements, ensure greater consistency and efficiency in development processes, and strengthen policies and tools available to the County and its municipalities.
The report also asks council to provide direction to begin the formal Official Plan Amendment process, which would include broad consultation with stakeholders before any changes are finalized.
